Mail-in questions

What can I send for mail-in sharpening?

MKG reviews almost anything with a blade. Ceramic knives, saws, drill bits, peelers, and zesters are not accepted. Mandolins are accepted only when the blade is removable. Every order remains subject to condition and safety review.

Should I ship my knives before contacting Miami Knife Guy?

No. Submit the quote request first. After the online quote is complete, Sean provides a private shipping intake with the current destination and packing instructions.

How should knives be packed for sharpening?

Each clean, dry blade should have a secure blade guard or rigid corrugated-cardboard sleeve. Immobilize the wrapped knives inside a sturdy box so no edge or point can move, pierce the packaging, or contact another knife.

How long does mail-in sharpening take?

Standard turnaround is three business days from package arrival to package departure. Severe damage, unusual work, or time spent awaiting final quote approval or payment details can extend that window; Sean confirms any exception.

Who pays for shipping?

The customer pays the current inbound and return shipping rates. MKG may add reduced-rate shipping options later, but no discount is promised today. Tracking, insurance, and signature options should reflect the shipment value.

When is the final price approved and charged?

The online quote is reviewed after the package arrives. If inspection changes the scope, Sean finalizes the quote with the customer before work begins and collects the payment method. The completed order is invoiced and charged before the package departs.
